Lucent Law is looking for a paralegal to work in our estate planning, probate, real estate, and business transactions practice. Our 8-person team includes three lawyers and two paralegals and delivers high-quality legal services for individuals and businesses in our practice areas, together with real estate and business sale closings. We enjoy our work and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. As a small office, personality is important; we are looking for someone who is upbeat and pleasant, and a sense of humor is a must.
This is a full-time position. Wage dependent upon experience – $23-31.25/hr ($48,000 to $65,000/yr). Benefits include: Medical, dental, & vision insurance; Simple IRA with employer match; Generous paid time off. Our office is open 8:00AM to 5:00PM, M-F, but there is room for flexibility with this position.
We are looking for a paralegal with significant experience in estate planning and probate matters, who can work independently much of the time. We don’t expect (or want) you to practice law, but we do expect our paralegals to function as the primary point of contact for clients on estate planning and probate matters. You may also work on some real estate matters in this position, such as private loan documents and foreclosure. The ideal candidate will have direct experience as an estate planning and probate paralegal, however, all candidates with work experience as a paralegal or an associate’s degree in paralegal studies are encouraged to apply (we will gladly train the right person). More important than specific job experience are the things we can’t teach: intelligence, attention to detail, a solid work ethic, honesty and candor, an ability to communicate effectively with our clients and our team, and a positive attitude toward learning and doing new things. We utilize a state-of-the-art practice management system and supporting technology to help us maintain a fast pace.
Here is a partial list of job duties for this position:
- Conduct initial phone calls and online meetings with potential clients in estate planning and probate matters;
- Open and manage files;
- Keep the assigned attorney up-to-date on the file;
- Accurately produce complex documents for attorney review;
- Draft correspondence with clients, opposing counsel and parties, and court staff;
- Be proficient in the use of the tools of our trade – Word, Excel and Windows 10 (experience with Quickbooks, Salesforce, Google Workspace, and/or document automation software is a plus);
- Keep accurate time records of your work;
- Keep trust accounting records up-to-date;
- Communicate with clients throughout the lifecycle of the file.
